Admissions ProcedureInitial enquiries should be made to the School Administrator. After that there are five stages in the Raphael Steiner School's admissions procedure:
1: Parents Open Day & Informal Visit
A chance for parents to view the school, meet staff, observe the kindergarten and lower school, learn
more about Steiner Education and ask questions. Children are welcome to attend any of the public
festivals and events which are held throughout the year, or make an informal visit (by appointment with
a parent) on the first Tuesday of the month at 10.30 am.
2: Application & Interview
Parents who have attended an Open Day are invited to complete an application form and return
it with the administration fee of £20. An interview is arranged for parents with one of the
school’s admissions team to ascertain whether the school would be a suitable educational environment
for the child and to discuss the role of parents at a Steiner school.
3: School Visit & Interview for Child
A visit to the school is arranged for the child who will be interviewed by a class teacher.
An assessment is made of the child's general and educational development to help a smooth transition
into the class.
4: Offer & Registration
A decision to offer a place to the child at the school is made based on stages 2 and 3.
(Should a place not be offered, the admission team will be available to discuss the decision and
its reasoning, with the parents.) The registration fee of £30 is paid and the child is enrolled
in the school and a date for admission is agreed (usually the start of the next half term).
5: Home Visit to the Child & Family
A home visit is arranged with the teacher to meet the child and to gain some understanding
of their home environment and for the child to get to know the teacher.
